Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) under the leadership of PBGen Lawrence B Coop, regional director, recently hosted a presentation of recovered cache of firearms and former rebels on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Camp 1Lt Vicente G Alagar, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.
The activity was graced by the presence of the distinguished PNP Chief PGen. Benjamin C Acorda Jr, APC-EM Commander PLtGen Filmore B Escobal, 4ID Assistant Division Commander BGen Joel M Paloma, and other honorees.
During the event, PRO10 presented the 16 recovered firearms cache which consists of one cal. 50 improvised sniper rifle, seven M16 rifles, three M14 rifles, three CZ rifles, and two cal. 45 pistols.
PLtGen Escobal also presented the 43 former rebels who have decided to abandon their previous path and rejoin mainstream society.
PGen Acorda then led the oath of allegiance of the former rebels, symbolizing their commitment to the nation.
In his message, PGen Acorda expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts of all the agencies involved in bringing about this significant event. He emphasized the significance of such initiatives in fostering peace and security in the region.
“Our collaboration and teamwork have been instrumental in these accomplishments. Together, we have prevented these firearms from falling it further into the wrong hands and endangering the lives of our fellow Filipinos,” he said.
He also said that as part of the E-CLIP Program, the surrenderers will receive necessary assistance and support for their reintegration into society. This program is designed to help them rebuild their lives, providing livelihood opportunities, skills training, and other essential services.
PGen Acorda emphasized that the PNP will remain committed to implementing the law and taking decisive action to support campaigns aimed at ending insurgency.
“Patuloy naming itataguyod ang diyalogo, pagkakaintindihan, at pakikilahok sa komunidad upang tugunan ang mga pangunahing sanhi ng tunggalian at itaguyod ang malawakang kapayapaan sa ating bansa,” he said.
Further, a press briefing was conducted, providing an opportunity for media representatives to inquire further about the event and its implications for peace and security in the region. ###
