Police Regional Office 10 kicks off the celebration of the 2023 National Women’s Month with the theme: “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” held at the RHQ Grandstand, Camp Alagar, Cagayan de Oro City on March 6, 2023.
The ceremony started with the parading “all-women” battalion led by PLTCOL SARAH JACINTO and was graced by ATTY. MERLYNN BAROLA-UY, Regional Prosecutor, Department of Justice 10 as Guest of Honor and Speaker.
During the activity, PRO10 awarded several female PNP personnel for displaying commendable acts in the performance of their duty.
In her message, Atty. Uy highlighted the elements of the theme and said that the word “WE” stands for Women and Everyone emphasizing the role of women themselves and everyone in the pursuit of gender equality.
She also said that to abandon gender stereotypes, society must achieve a certain level of maturity and be more gender-sensitive in our language and in our dealings with each other to give everyone an equal opportunity not only to survive but to thrive and excel.
“I am very optimistic that we are on our way to becoming a country that does not only value women but more importantly, protects and promotes the role of women and everyone regardless of gender identity and sexual orientation so that we can proudly live up to this month’s sub-theme: #WEcanbeEquALL,” she added. ###
