Police Regional Office 10 - PBGEN ROLANDO B ANDUYAN, Regional Director through the Regional Community Affairs Development Division organized a Mangrove Treeplanting in collaboration with the DENR 10 held at the shoreline of Sitio Punta Brgy Bonbon, CDOC on May 14, 2021.
The activity was attended by 118 RHQ personnel assigned in Command Group, R1 to R9 and RHSU. A short orientation about the proper way of planting the mangrove trees was conducted by CLENRO Focal Person Ms Sheenrily L Pines. It was immediately followed by the actual mangrove treeplanting along the shoreline.
The Mangrove tree planting was initiated to protect the shorelines from damaging storm, hurricane winds, waves, floods, and helps to prevent erosion along the coastal area. It aims to increase the awareness among the communities of the importance of caring and preserving the environment and to foster strong and active participation of the PNP personnel and the communities in environment protection.
The personnel have planted 1,180 mangrove seedlings along the shoreline.
It was carried out in strict implementation of necessary health protocols to avoid the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases.
