Police Regional Office 10 - A drug suspect shot two police drug operatives during a buy bust operation was killed on Friday night.

Around 4:00 PM on October 11, 2019, joint elements of Police Station 2 under PCpt Tessie L Lleva, Station Commander and other operatives conducted a buy bust operation against a certain Maingko Tangkulo Alinog, 35 years old, married, resident of Tangkongan, Pinikitan, Cogon, Cagayan de Oro City and listed under Directorate for Intelligence (DI) watchlist at Block 36, Vamenta Subdivision, Barra, Opol, Misamis Oriental which resulted to a fire fight.

The suspect sensing that he was transacting with police operatives, prompted him to withdrew his firearm and shot the poseur-buyer that resulted in an exchange of fire and wounding of two personnel identified as PSSg Rex Tenio who was hit at his left arm and PCpl Reynante Rara who was also hit at his right hand portion were immediately rushed to the hospital while the suspect fled to one of the houses in the area where he was cornered.

COCPO SWAT Team responded in the area to help neutralize the suspect that resulted in another fire fight. The suspect managed to throw a hand grenade but fortunately no one was hit by the blast except causing damage to the house.

The suspect was finally neutralized but resulted in the wounding of PSSg Homer Rapleza who was hit at his thigh while PCpt Exyllo Q Alcantara sustained injury after the suspect shot him but luckily the bullet hit only the magazine placed in his pocket.

The suspect was not immediately brought to the nearest hospital because the police believed that there was still another hand grenade in his possession.

K9 personnel responded and cleared the area while SOCO processed the crime scene.

Recovered from the crime scene were: 1 cal .45 Para Ordnance Pistol bearing serial number 541223 with magazine, 12 pieces of 9 mm fired cartridge case (FCC), 2 pieces of 5.56 FCC, 6 pieces of cal .45 FCC, 1 piece Cal .45 fired bullet, 1 piece sachet of suspected Shabu recovered from the pocket of the suspect’s pants and one sachet of suspected shabu.

Suspect was recently released thru plea bargaining agreement from the jail facility facing drug case. He is jobless and one of the prime suspect of the shooting incident happened at Pinikitan, Cogon this city last October 8, 2019 and the case was filed against him in court.

PRO 10 will give necessary medical assistance to its PNP wounding personnel.

PBGen Rafael P Santiago reminds drug personalities to never engage the police officers in any operations since they were ordered and trained to fight back and even kill if that is the only way to subdue or repel them.

"We would like to remind all suspects to never attempt to shoot the police during any operations because they were trained to defend their lives." PBGen Santiago Jr said.

PBGen Santiago Jr congratulates the operating personnel for not hesitating to implement the law and followed their mandates even putting their lives in danger.

"I would like to commend them for a job well done and for not hesitating to implement the law and even fulfill their mandate even knowing that they will be in danger." PBGen Santiago Jr added.
