PRESS RELEASE #55-2018

CPNP LAUDS NORMIN'S 40.27% DECREASE IN CRIME FOR 1ST SEM 2018

Police Regional Office 10 earned praises from no less than the Chief PNP, Police Director General Oscar Albayalde for the marked decrease in crime incident in Northern Mindanao.

Albayalde made the announcement during the command conference at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City for the security preparations of the forthcoming SONA of President Rodrigo Duterte in July 23, 2018 attended by police regional directors nationwide.

For the current year, Northern Mindanao recorded an unprecedented 40.27% decrease in total crime volume. The data represents a decrease of 4,986 crime incidents in 2018 compared to 2017. "This clearly shows that our crime prevention programs are effective," NorMin police Regional Director PCSupt Timoteo Pacleb said.

Police records also showed a remarkable 65.99% decrease in robbery incidents and 71.52% decrease in theft incidents from January to June 2018 compared to the same period in 2017. The large percentage decreases in both categories placed PNP NorMin in the top spot, besting all other regions nationwide.

Pacleb also expressed his appreciation to all PRO10 personnel for their concerted effort. "I wish to convey my appreciation and gratitude to all units that has led to the high percentage reductions in crime volume, average monthly crime rate, index crime volume and average monthly index crime rate in Northern Mindanao for the 1st Semester 2018 as compared to same period last year. Never have we posted such significant gains against criminality in our region until now," Pacleb said.

Pacleb encouraged all PNP units under PRO10 to continue working harder to further decrease crime incidents. "Let us carry on until we attain a crime and drug free Northern Mindanao, " he added.
